PSS | Precast Structural Solutions provided the complete structural precast package for this new sixth form building opening in autumn 2024.
The new facilities will provide sixth form students with the right setting for their education, to prepare them for further education, apprenticeships or employment. The new building will house 12 new classrooms, office space for a sixth form pastoral support team as well as a food service area specifically for 6th form students. Students will have access to specifically designed areas for learning, studying and their own food service area.
During the process, accurate planning, coordination and collaboration were paramount to success. Working closely together with our client and supply chain we have completed;
- 670m² – 225mm Beam and Block
- 1956m² – 200mm Hollowcore
- 34t – Precast Stairs
All units were installed through the steel frame with a combination of 5 axle self-erecting tower cranes and 90t-150t mobiles with max. counterweight.
- 320m – Edge Trim
- 1162m – Reinforcement bar
Fixed by our team with all shuttering to columns and details followed by concrete infill pumped to each level.
‘On top’ of all that, the roof areas received 50mm structural concrete, laid to datum over A142 with a skip float finish.
