FALL ARREST SYSTEMS

Working at height is one of the most dangerous activities in construction. At PSS we take into consideration the responsibility for our installation teams at every stage of the process.

As part of our installation service PSS can provide a comprehensive range of fall arrest and protection systems for most projects. Depending on the specific site conditions, PSS can offer a fall prevention system and working platform which is lightweight and easy to erect, allowing operatives to work directly on the decking.

SAFETY DECKING

Safety Decking
Combines a fall prevention system and working platform which is lightweight and easy to erect, allowing operatives to work directly on the decking.

With the ability to withstand up to 2.5kN p/m2, this system conforms to a class 3 platform. Additionally, the deck stands at approximately 1.8 metres from the floor – enabling contractors to work safely at the correct height for the installation.

The range of work we undertake includes:

  • Class 3 Platform withstanding 2.5kN psqm
  • Quick and easy to install
  • Fits all irregular floor plans
  • Water, rot and UV resistant

.

SAFETY NETTING

PSS Safety Netting
The most commonly used passive safety solution when installing on steel structures is a safety net system. Safety nets protect workers on construction sites, preventing serious injury and death.
This is a quick and reliable safety solution that can be utilised on almost all projects. Depending on the application, PSS’s FASET approved installers use either net hooks, MEWPS or rope access solutions.
Nets are hung from the underside of steel beams and are installed prior to commencement of installation. The nets are left in place until all floor items are safely installed and it is safe to remove them from the underside of the area.

Benefits

  • Allows workers to move freely, unlike personal harness options where movement is limited.
  • Provides collective protection for all work and movement within the work area.
  • Nets provide a soft landing as opposed to a harness solution, with no risk of suspension trauma.
  • Avoids complicated rescue operations as the fallen site operative can simply climb out of the net.

AIRBAG FALL ARREST SYSTEM

PSS Airbag
The air bag system is comprised of a series of inter-linked modules that provide passive fall protection. A combination of flexible hoses, stop ends and petrol blowers transform the modules into a continuous protective safety surface.

Benefits

  • A flexible model provides a continuous protective safety surface.
  • Allows workers to move freely, unlike personal harness options where movement is limited.
  • Provides collective protection for all work and movement within the work area.
